Tips to make attending a concert the best experience of your life.
January 16th, 2023
As 2023 starts, so does the 2023 concert season. Even if your show is in ten months, you should really keep in mind some of these tips that have personally helped me make my concert experience excellent.
Getting barricade
So, you are going to see your all time favourite artist and of course, you want to be as close as possible, smashing your body against the barricade and throwing hands forward in hopes of getting a high-five from them.
Well, this isn’t really that hard to experience, you just have to spend the night (or the nights) sleeping in the streets in front of the venue to get the first spot in the queue. But of course, If there’s any kind of early entry ticket, these are the way to get your position.
Before I get into detail about camping, this might not be necessary for smaller artists, however big artists like Harry Styles, Billie Elish, Doja Cat, The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Louis Tomlinson… can have crazy queue time!
Camping isn’t really that bad, of course, it’s uncomfortable to sleep in the streets, but the experience of meeting other fans and making friends while waiting makes it worth it.
I’ll leave you here some tips and essential stuff to make your camping experience less uncomfortable than how it sounds.
Tent, you don't want to sleep out in the open don’t you?
Pillows! Get comfy.
Blanket, even if it's summer, It gets cold during the night.
Inflatable mattress, to sleep comfortably.
Old towels to sit outside the tent.
Water, a lot! Keep a bottle with you inside the venue because your throat is going to be sore.
Snacks or prepared meals, you don't want to pass out before or during the best night of your life.
Poncho even if it's not supported to rain, you never know.
Umbrella
Camping chair
Portable Changer
Speaker, but of course, be respectful.
Book
Uno / cards
Deodorant
Makeup & outfit
Nap during the day, us Spaniards know how to do that pretty well.
Before the show, go to the bathroom
Another important thing that I recommend when camping, is the planning of it all.
Planning
It’s extremely important that you plan everything so that your experience goes just as expected.
Whether the show is in your city or in another country, you have to plan very well how you’re going to get there and how you’re going to get back home. For this, I suggest using google maps to see exactly what bus or train you have to take and their website is linked so you can buy them, you can even put in the date of the show to see the exact timetables.
If you have camping on your mind, I recommend you to get some of your friends to do it with you, rent together an Airbnb for the two nights (so you have somewhere to sleep after the show, if your show is far away from where you live, and then take turns between who is sleeping in the Airbnb, who is sleeping in the tent and who is taking care of your tent and all of your stuff. Plus, you’ll have somewhere to leave your camping stuff in and take a shower, we don’t want smelly people in the pit right?
Also, start packing up your stuff early on, sometimes they open up the doors earlier than they’re supposed to! I recommend that you start packing up around 12:00 and finish at 16:00.
More important stuff
I guess if you are still reading this, it's because you have pit tickets and as we know, pit means dancing, jumping and being squished in between lots of people. So, I recommend you wear a comfortable outfit that, of course, fits the aesthetic of the artists. And for us short queens and kings, screw the heels! Platforms exist for a reason and they’re way more comfortable!
I am going to make a big, big emphasis on food and water, trust me, you’re going to want to bring it because your throat is going to be sore and you need energy to jump around!
I hope this article helped you! Have a great time at your show :).
